VOCs (Volatile Organic Compound) include a variety of chemicals and are emitted from paints, cleaning supplies, pesticides, building material, furniture and office equipments. Some of them may have short or long term adverse health effects. Indoor exposures to such VOCs in residences and offices are of particular concern as people spend their majority of time in such closed environments.
Managing VOC levels in a closed environment need an energy efficient ventilation system. Over the recent years the use of natural ventilation along with engineered mechanical ventilation has been increased to protect the occupants from unhealthy exposures.
Determining the correct ventilation rate is the first step in designing the energy efficient ventilation system, as the system not only aims to reduce indoor VOCs but also minimising energy cost for conditioning incoming air. Our VOC data logger ADL measures and captures the emission details. This data can be used in determining ventilation means and rates.
So far it had always been assumed that natural ventilation is enough for fresh and health indoor air. However, general awareness on VOC emissions have now led to engineered ventilation system for residences and offices protecting the occupants from the exposures to unhealthy environment.
